The CEE AI Index 2026 is a data-driven initiative mapping the state of artificial intelligence across Central and Eastern Europe — tracking 18 indicators across 11 countries and 3 core pillars: environment, resources, and adoption. Commissioned by the AI Chamber in Poland, this project needed more than a report — it needed a digital experience that could make complex, regional data feel accessible, engaging, and worth exploring.
The challenge wasn't visualising data — it was making people care about it. The AI Index needed to feel as authoritative as the research behind it, while remaining intuitive enough for a non-technical audience to navigate with confidence. Inspired by the Global AI Index by The Tortoise, our brief was to design an interactive landing page that turned numbers into a story — one that positions Central and Eastern Europe as a region worth watching in the global AI conversation.
From visual direction to custom-built data charts, we handled the full design and development of the experience — end to end.
The colour palette draws directly from the AI Chamber's brand book — deep navy, vivid green, soft lavender grey, and white — creating a professional, data-forward aesthetic that feels confident without being cold. Ubuntu was chosen as the typeface for its technical clarity and existing roots in the AI Chamber's identity.
We started with the data, not the design. Before a single screen was drawn, we mapped the information architecture — identifying which metrics needed direct comparison, which told a story over time, and which required country-level context to be meaningful. Progressive disclosure kept the experience clean: users see the headline insight first, with deeper data available on demand. Consistent colour coding across countries and pillars reduced cognitive load and made cross-referencing feel intuitive rather than overwhelming. Every chart was then built in custom HTML and JavaScript — no heavy libraries, no bloated embeds — keeping page load fast and interactivity high.
Our clients are at the heart of everything we do. For the AI Chamber, that meant treating their data with the same rigour they applied to collecting it. We work as an extension of our clients' teams — transparent, responsive, and always focused on the outcome that matters most to them.
